About the event
In partnership with the CarbonNerds from the LIST, the Ministry for Consumer Protection, the Ministry of International Cooperation, Greenpeace and Infogreen we ought to bring you local short and long term solutions and actions to decarbonise in Luxembourg. There are 5 events to discuss sectors with high carbon emissions - energy, mobility, housing, food and consumption goods.
Energy
Energy pervades every aspect of our lifestyles, from food consumption, to heating and lighting houses and offices, to producing vehicles and move them as we please. Energy generation and conversion thus strongly influences the impacts of our society on the environment.
This talk aims at exploring the environmental impacts of energy (which, by far, is not limited to electricity), including in Luxembourg, and how they can be mitigated, via individual actions and heavier governmental and industry intervention.
The presented information will be based on scientific data gathered by researchers of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). The latter particularly investigated the carbon footprint of Luxembourg residents and potential decarbonization pathways. While the impacts of energy on climate change will be primarily discussed; other effects and potential trade-offs, e.g., on ecosystem or resource depletion, will also be highlighted when relevant.
